Meet TBI's Hesed Committee

The current Hesed Committee has been operational now for several months, and in this very short time, its ranks have grown and its accomplishments have been many: fundraising for and delivery of Thanksgiving meals; visits to the Abramson Center; supporting the ill and bereaved; delivery of warm clothing, toys and games for Christmas in the local community; restocking the freezers, to name but a few. These things could not have been done without the generous contributions from the TBI community at large. To all, a big THANK YOU!

Although according to some sources (the "Do" mitzvot, and Kant for example), actions performed without duty are without moral value, I am thoroughly convinced that the work of TBI's Hesedniks, those on the Committee and the surrogates who provide the wherewithal, carries with it the highest moral value even as it is performed with the utmost love, joy, and generosity. Much of it is also done with the involvement of the youngest members of our community, in whom the ardor of the adults is recapitulated. And so it should!

Let it not be said that at TBI, we do not know how to beat swords into ploughshares. Presenting herewith the army of Hesedniks, all good folks who have mastered this art:

May there come a time when all will be well with the world and the work of the Hesedniks will become obsolete. Until then, may we all stay strong, healthy, and resolute in our tasks.
